This BMW G82 M4 Comp received our Extended Front End PPF Package as well as Swirl Mark Removal through our Enhancement Detail and Gyeon Ceramic Coatings.
This BMW G82 M4 Competition finished in Tanzanite Blue Metallic joined us in one of our four studio bays to receive Extended Front End Paint Protection Film, protecting the more vulnerable panels from UV exposure, road grime, stone chips and other physical damage.
'Front End Extended PPF' otherwise commonly known as 'Track Pack PPF' includes the protection of the Headlights, Front Bumper, Bonnet, Wings, Wing Mirrors, Sideskirts, A Pillar and Leading Roof Line.
What Actually is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?
Paint Protection Film is a transparent polyurethane film that provides an almost invisible layer of protection for your vehicles paintwork, offering you protection against rock chips, scratches and bird droppings as well as other forms of chemical damage.
Ultimately PPF is the safest way to protect your vehicles paintwork and the best preventative measure you can take to protect both your vehicles long term appearance and future re-sale value.
Before we are able to install PPF, Machine Polish or Ceramic Coat this BMW M4 we first had to prepare the vehicle. This is done through a meticulous 'Decontamination Wash' process. It is through this process that we thoroughly wash the vehicle, and deep clean into all of the tighter spaces such as the wheel arches, underneath the bonnet and around the engine bay for example.
We do this to rid the surfaces of any dirt or debris that could interfere with the PPF install or contaminate the panels beneath the film. Following a deep clean of this M4 the bodywork is then physically decontaminated using a Clay Bar to collect any of the heavier ingrained road grime. The bodywork then receives a single pass with a machine polisher to ensure a completely smooth surface to which we can apply the PPF.
When it comes to installing PPF to a car such as this BMW M4, first we begin by mapping out all of the body panels we are going to be protecting using 'patterns' from the Gyeon PPF Cut software. We can then print these custom fitting panel shaped pieces of PPF ready for install.
The approach we take will vary between vehicle makes and models, particularly with bonnet installs where sometimes we may be able to achieve a better fitment through what we call a 'bulk install'. However for the most part, we rely on the 3D scanned models of your vehicle to reduce waste and install your PPF with the best possible fitment.
We began the main work on this M4 with a bulk PPF install of the Front Bumper, allowing us to wrap the film around the full edge of the bonnet for the best protection and an uncompromising finish as shown by Aiden in the above images.
This process of bonnet install is achieved by using an oversized piece of PPF cut straight from the roll, that can then be tagged at each corner allowing us to position and install the film before trimming away the excess.
For the remainder of the panels such as the wings, we used the patterns provided from the Gyeon Cut Software, as well as opting to remove the side badging and wrap the PPF edge beneath for a discrete install.
Following this we finished up the remained of the PPF work before moving onto a two stage machine polish of the rest of the car on each panel that hasn't received any film. Through this two stage process we chased out any swirl marks and light scratches that could be seen under the spotlights of our detailing bay.
Finally, the entire vehicle bodywork was protected using Gyeon Q2 Infinite (Certified Only) professional Ceramic Coatings. This provides an additional layer of chemical and UV protection for the entire vehicle including the PPF areas, as well as extreme hydrophobic properties (beading) to repel both water and dirt, ultimately keeping the car cleaner for longer as well as making the wash process that much easier for the owner for years to come.
